Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 18:10:19 GMT

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un arrived in Russia on Tuesday for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin that is likely to focus on Russia’s desire to buy ammunition to refill reserves drained by its war in Ukraine. The meeting will also underscore deepening cooperation as the two isolated leaders are locked in separate confrontations with the U.S. In return for providing ammunition, North Korea will likely want shipments of food and energy and transfers of sophisticated weapons technologies.A meeting with Putin would be Kim’s first with a foreign leader since North Korea closed its borders in January 2020. They met for the first time in April 2019, two months after Kim’s high-stakes nuclear diplomacy with then-U.S. President Donald Trump collapsed.Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu traveled to Pyongyang, North Korea’s capital, in July and asked Kim to send more ammunition to Russia, according to U.S. officials. Twins fall 7-4 to Tampa Bay in series opener

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 18:10:19 GMT

On paper, it had the makings of a pitcher’s duel, a matchup of two of the best starters in the American League, both of whom entered the day with an earned-run average under 3.00.That’s not how Monday night’s game played out.Sonny Gray was forced out of the game after four innings and Tyler Glasnow gave up four runs — though most came after Twins relievers had put the team in a deep hole. The end result was a 7-4 loss to the Rays at Target Field, their fourth in as many games against Tampa Bay this season.Gray endured a rocky first inning, allowing hits to three of the first four batters he faced on the night. He also hit a batter in the inning, but was able to limit the Rays (89-56) to just one run in the inning. He did throw more than 30 pitches in the frame, though, leading to a quick hook later in the night. Gray was removed after just four innings — he threw 89 pitches and gave up one other run, which came in the third inning. The Twins (75-69) never led in the loss, though they ...
